The Preliminary Assessment of the Climate Action Plan is a major step in achieving an integrated and comprehensive sustainable and resilient development within the city.

Under the Climate Smart Cities project, technical support is being provided to the Kochi Municipal Corporation and Cochin Smart City Limited in the following sectors:

  • Green and flood resistant building framework
  • Solid waste management
  • Climate Action Plan

In the green building sector, CSC project is building the understanding and adoption of green building technologies to contribute to climate change adaptation and mitigation measures. CSC project is currently establishing the bottlenecks, gaps, and enabling factors related to green buildings in the city and that would lead to development of a roadmap for implementation. The aspects of flood resistant building construction (including aspects of sea-level rise) and use of construction and demolition (C&D) waste will also be examined as part of the situation analysis.
The CSC program is also supporting KMC( Kochi Municipal Corporation) to prepare waste management plan as per MWSM Rule 2016. As part of this, conducted training programs for quantification survey for entire city.
